Meet the Teacher

The Redding Cooperative Preschool has one Teacher-Director who oversees the classroom, the children, the parents, and the curriculum. Teacher Jula will be teaching both the MWF and TTh classes.

Her son, Lukas, is a graduate of Redding Co-op. Jula is looking forward to all the learning adventures we will share this year.

Letter from Jula:

Welcome to a very exciting and fun school year! It is an honor to introduce myself to all of you as your Teacher/Director. My name is Jula Herzog and I have been involved with the Redding Co-op for the last three years. I first served as a parent and substitute teacher and later became the teacher for the 4 year old classroom. Last year was my first year as the Co-op's Teacher/Director for both classes.

I am originally from Ecuador and have been residing in Northern California area for fifteen years, with the last five in Redding. My husband Walter was raised in upstate New York and works for the Bureau of Land Management as a Forester. We met and got married in Ecuador where he lived for two years working with the Peace Corps. We have two children, Shanti, 10 years old, and Lukas, 6 years.

My teaching experience includes five years as a Bilingual Teacher's Assistant, and four years as a Spanish Teacher for adults and children. After attending Shasta College for twelve years (one to two classes at a time), I received an Associate in Science Degree in Early Childhood Education in May of 2007. My initial plans were to become an elementary school teacher but after my experience at the Redding Co-op with my son Lukas, I discovered that my passion is teaching preschoolers. I am amazed at their creativity and individuality and appreciate their curiosity and sense of adventure.

As your child's teacher I would like to let you know that I enjoy offering children developmentally appropriate experiences that spark their curiosity and allow them to make their own discoveries. I will be supporting you and your children in our learning journey. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Teacher Jula
